Sisters of Charity Foundation and Annie E. Casey Foundation form Partnership
October 6, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – The Sisters of Charity Foundation and the Annie E. Casey Foundation have announced a partnership for 2015 to support Kinship Care in South Carolina. Sisters of Charity launched their Kinship Care Initiative in September by bringing together a host of kinship stakeholders from across the state. Also in attendance was the Annie E. Casey Foundation. “It is an honor and privilege for our Foundation to be able to partner with Annie E. Casey” said Tom Keith, Foundation president. “They have invested a lot of time and resources towards Kinship Care over the years and we hope to learn from their knowledge and experience.”
The Annie E Casey Foundation is a national funder based in Baltimore with assets of nearly $3 billion. It is best known for its annual “Kids Count Report” which provides critical information on children and it is often used by states to direct resources to certain areas (based on the report).
“We are excited about the partnership” said Karen Angelici of the Annie E Casey Foundation. “We believe the Sisters of Charity Foundation and the state of South Carolina are poised to make great strides in impacting the important issue of Kinship Care.”
The Foundation has plans to implement several different phases of the Initiative in the coming months.
“The Sisters of Charity Foundation is in the process of naming an Advisory Council” said Tamara Peterson, Program Director. “In 2015, we expect many positive things to happen, including grant dollars to support projects for those serving kinship care families.”
